Having a beautiful website that nobody can find online will hurt your business. Over the years, we have talked to numerous people that are unhappy with their SEO (Search Engine Optimization) results and their rankings in Google. Being near the top of the search results can have a tremendous value for your business. How many times have you scrolled to the second page of the search results? There can be several reasons for a website not to show up in the search results, but below are some of the more common ones:
1. Brand New Domain and Website:
2. Thin Content:
Google loves content, and if your website contains sparse content with bullet points and no meaningful text, it will be difficult for your website to make it to the first page.
3. Video and Image-Based Content:
Search engines are unable to ‘read’ text in videos and photos. Make sure that you describe your topic with words and sentences.
4. Poor On-Page Optimization:
There are some basic SEO elements that need to be taken care of for each page of your website (title tags, meta descriptions). Google will not be able to make sense of the importance and focus of your content without this information.
5. Poor Content Structure:
Depending on what platform you are using for your website (WordPress, Joomla, html) there could be potential content hierarchy issues that prevent Google from effectively crawling (indexing) your website.
6. Cookie-Cutter Website Builders:
DIY website building tools are great for some users, but they are often not great when it comes to SEO. All things being equal, Google will give priority to websites that are custom build as it gives them a signal that you are taking your online presence serious.
7. Strong Competition:
If you are operating in a hyper-competitive market, it will be more difficult to rank high organically in your category.
